Head of the Cove:
This new house is perched on a jetty overlooking a picturesque cove. It had some unusual regulatory permit challenges that required a highly innovative site design to combine durability and a sensitive response to the natural environment. The house itself feels like living aboard a boat. The sparkling reflections in the water sheet of the cove animate the entire house with extraordinary light shows on the ceilings of the rooms. It is a comfortable
year-round house that lives like a vacation retreat. The project presented us with one of our most challenging regulatory permit processes. By deeply embracing the underlying goals of the regulations and turning the regulations into an actual opportunity for creative and resourceful solutions, we succeeded in permitting and building the home of the owners’ dreams.
