Removing the Blinders:
This house sits on a hillside densely filled with other houses all facing the Atlantic. As originally built, all these little summer cottages were looking northward at the Atlantic Ocean as if no other part of the view mattered. The design of the new house removes these blinders and refocuses the view to not only capture the open water sheet to the North but also Ipswich Bay and the exquisite
sunsets to the West. This adds a whole new dimension to the site and at the same time due to the strategic placement of windows ensures a high degree of privacy throughout the house. The upland side of the house looks like a small cottage yet the house cascades down the hill to provide approximately six thousand square feet of flexible living space.
